The children in Early Years went on their own hunt and an exciting tour of the Botanical Gardens to see how many different species of common birds they could spot in a morning.
Armed with clipboards and identification sheets they stealthily crept down pathways and hid behind bushes to spot birds and record their findings.
The school has registered with the RSPB to take part in the Big Schools' Birdwatch after half term so this trip was a practice run to hone our birdwatching skills.
The Reception classes were amazing and managed to find lots of different kinds of birds. The Kindergarten classes did well too and also discovered that muddy puddles are another exciting feature of the Botanical Gardens!
