Pre-Prep pupils at Dame Bradbury's enjoyed their launch day on the topic of 'Picture This', and got lots of inspiration for this half terms projects and activities.

On Monday 25 February, Dame Bradbury’s was overrun with an amazing array of artists and characters from famous pieces of art - our very own Pre-Prep pupils! The children had certainly done their homework and could tell us who or what they were dressed as.

Year 1 and 2 Launch Day

The children were put into groups and they each visited a different activity throughout the day. They learnt how to draw portraits with Mrs Lodwig and used some excellent artistic techniques with Mrs Andrews creating a textured sky with salt and pva glue. They became photographers, using their digital and collaborative skills to spot where some ‘arty’ photos had been taken around our school and really enjoyed Mr Hannaway’s Kahoot quiz.

Year 1 and 2 Launch Day

In Mrs McWilliam’s room the children used tangrams to create their own pieces of art, linking maths and creative thinking skills and when they visited 1C the children used lots of concentration to create their own masks. In 2L the children used inference skills to ask and answer questions about photographs of famous people and came up with some very good ideas, taking clues from the images.

The children were really inspired by the activities and shared their ideas of what they would like to learn this half term. We are very excited to see what ‘Picture This’ holds in store for our young learners.
